California is at an all-time dangerous low once again when regarding water supply. A lengthy amount of time with no signs of rainfall has passed. The golden state is stuck in rough times and it is necessary to find a way to replenish its people. Factually, 40,000 people are at risk of becoming without water. They are vulnerable since the supply may run out any time from two to four months. The State Water Project was the state’s lone hope of assistance. “The main municipal water distribution system” was unable to fulfill its duties due to the severe drought. In a fifty-four year history, it is the first time the State Water Project had to disable and deactivate its spigot. All residents are required to cut down overall water usage by twenty percent. As an emergency back up plan for the worst case scenario possible, dispatches of trucks would have to bring in drinking water. New wells will also be drilled into the ground in order to achieve extra fresh water sources.
It is dire for Californians to keep water usage to a minimum. The state must be capable of an effective water conservation plan in order to prevent long term damage and crisis regarding the water resources.

  1. It is scary to think about natural troubles, especially with an entity like water, which is so essential to life. This post was informative and well-written, perfect amount of logos. I understand that showers are enjoyable and water is used a lot for unnecessary things, but the water source might be scarce. Great work, Arus!

  2. Not having enough water in our homes is not a problem many people think about in California. Some people just blatantly waste water, and use more than necessary for certain tasks. Just because there is water flowing through the pipes now does not mean that it will continue. This drought is not to be taken lightly, and many of us have to begin thinking about how much water we are using.

  3. The simplest/inexpensive solution to this problem, where everyone can participate, is to start conserving water immediately. Taking shorter showers and not running the water while brushing your teeth can save millions of gallons of water every day. California should also consider exploring new innovative ways of creating new water sources, such as purifying ocean water.

  4. What would it be like if suddenly the showers and sinks were not working? What would be the sanitary situation the people would be facing? The people of the West - especially Californians - need to start conserving water. I read that urinating in the shower instead of the toilet could possible save thousands of gallons of water a year. That is an exceptional start to the campaign to conserve the scarce water source.

  5. People will not fully comprehend the severity of the drought until the time has come when California's residents are left without water. Living in California, this article affects many of us, but people rarely put thought into how much water they consume. Californians should do their best not to waste the source and find a way to reuse water for tasks such as watering plants.

  7. In what world would someone leave the sink running and take long unnecessary showers if they knew they were at risk of a severe drought? The stupidity of people continues to amaze me. Every household should be given a certain amount of water to use every month in order to prevent such a thing from taking place.

  8. This is a wonderful topic because as Californians we are living with this issue. People should not be using water carelessly and put more thought when taking long showers, watering plants, and leaving the sink on when it is not being used because soon there will be no drinking water. Arousiak you deserve an award for writing such an interesting blog.

  9. The most dreadful area of this devastating news is that those citizens in risk are people like us. It is not like there is a shortage of a kind of food and there is a vast majority of others to choose from, it is water we are talking about. The basic essential to human life. Imagine craving a cold glass of water knowing there is no possible way of obtaining it.

  10. The Golden State looks like it is golden for the wrong reason. The sun is only drying up the land we love. Although Californians have been so used to living in the hot weather, no one will be able to adapt without water. Many, including I, have selfishly assumed for years that our resources will never get cut off. However, looks like they have and our beloved state is going downhill. Thanks Arus for the startling, yet informative blog. Time to start preserving guys!

  11. It is a very frightening thing hearing about a problem like this. A drought could become a very serious situation. Especially in the west, where temperatures hit high numbers. It is very important to conserve resources even if they are not scarce. People should be conserving all the time so that they never fall into a situation where they need to preserve their last bits of that resource. Californians have been wasting gallons of water every day, and now its time for us to take notice and act upon this drought.

  12. Wow! This was an extremely informative blog, which included a great amount of facts and evidence. It is incredibly scary hearing about a situation such as this drought. This situation must be taken care of so it will not spread and cause trouble anywhere else. The drought will cause serious problems towards the west.
